  • we have moved between the prores codecs with success. Just don’t change the resolution/frame size, Timebase, Aspect Ratio, or Field dominance that will really mess things up.

    3 options

    1. Loop your Camera/deck through the FW drive.

    2. Connect your FW drive through the USB 2.0 interface on the drive ( hope that it doesn’t drop frames).

3.Capture to Internal drive unplug deck plug in FW drive and copy your footage to FW drive.

Unrendered AVI’s what are your sequence settings? AVIs make my system yell at me.

Can you try another timeline source to confirm that FCP and compressor are working properly? Open a new project and use some footage in a QT codec.
    If the above works then
Pull in 10 sec of the AVI in a TL. Render it. send it to compressor and see if that will do it.

Are you sending to compressor directly from the timeline? If you are it often times locks up FCP. FCP will come back to a functioning state once you quit compressor, or quit the compression from the batch monitor, or your compression has completed. Take note while the file is compressing do you get a box in FCP the states that it is processing frames?

Are you compressions completing from compressor?

Are you still enjoying your Aquos? I have a 46″ at my house and love it. I’m considering pulling the trigger on purchasing them for my edit rooms as a client monitor.

    September 8, 2007 at 12:59 pm in reply to: Field P2 workflow…. update/recap please?

I did some tests with it. I installed the Duel driver, but I didn’t install the Panasonic driver. I had figured that I didn’t need the Panasonic driver since I didn’t need it when I attach the camera [HVX200] through FW.

I’ll try it again the this week with both installed. I’ll have to use the Beta version because I have 10.4.10 installed.

    thanks

    John,

How are you using your Duel on a MacBook Pro? If so How? I attempted this setup but couldn’t get my MBP to see the cards, saw the reader but not the cards.

    Thanks

If you wish to continue the back up of your 1 drive as time goes on you should try a backup software like retrospect by dantz and EMC2.

Retrospect lets you continuously add to your backup set and you can automate your backups.

I use a Mackie 1604. It’s an analog board w/ no midi control. It works great in that capacity. If your looking for a control service that’s a different story. The mackie control universal is nice but it has no ins/outs it’s just a control surface. Your right Tascam makes a FW-1080 and a FW-1884 that uses the Mackie protocol, which Final Cut Studio talk to now. Those two Tascams are both a control surface and a traditional mixer all rolled into one.

You mentioned motion 2 in your post, don’t forget that the above tools your asking about work in FCP 5 and Soundtrack Pro.

First click on the clip that you have adjusted and “copy”. Then you need to “Paste Attributes” you can do this by clicking “option + v” or control clicking on the clip in the sequence that you want to put the motion attributes on. Then selecting “Paste Attributes”. Then select what attributes you want.
