  • Can I change sequence settings without hurting an edit?

    HI All,

I am helping out a friend with his film, which is edited using Apple ProRes 444 in Final Cut Pro 7.

I only have FCP6 and so cannot edit in ProRes444. I got him to export the project as an XML file so I can open it in FCP6, then I changed the sequence settings to ProRes 422 so I could edit it.

My question is this. Once he brings this sequence back into final cut pro 7, is it as simple as switching the sequence settings back to ProRes444 and re-rendering?

All the source clips are in ProRes444.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

we have moved between the prores codecs with success. Just don’t change the resolution/frame size, Timebase, Aspect Ratio, or Field dominance that will really mess things up.

    Thanks!

I figured as much, but it’s always good to have someone who knows tell you for sure.

    I appreciate the help.

my editor used the wrong codec for all the sequences (over 200), is there anyway to change the codec of all the sequences with a copy…paste attributes or something? Tried to highlight all the sequences in the browser and change the settings but that only change the first one. Thanks
