Thanks for the heads up Walter on the ram,,

    2 questions,

What monitor card are you spec’ing and why?

Do you think the Kona 3 Card will take full advantage of the new buss or would AJa have a Kona 3b upgrade at NAB?

Next I will have to decide which first, the chicken or the egg….. Mac Pro 3.2 or the HPX500..

    Jan,

Now that I have the P2 card and Barry’s book,,, I still don’t think Ihave properly registered my Hvx200.

One site I went to, 5 year warranty, didn’t work because the HVX200 isn’t part of the 5 year program.

And the other site, led me to Panasonics Palmcorders…

What is the right URL for registration of the HVX200???..

And thanks for Barry’s Book. It is thick, almost easy to read and is like a light in the night.
Now I know the Clunk sound, and that the HVX is a super-computer with an eyeball.

    Jan,

I promise I will work on my punch-lines (damn writers strike)

Please put down the axe. Don’t chop no heads. The good guys at VSA, Lincoln Neb.. just packaged your P2 card, Barrys book and the P2 mouse pad in an empty Sony DV-HD case (120 pieces) cardboard box. They probably just trying to recycle (“green’) a cardboard box….

I just thought it was a wonderful hoot (w00t, w00t). A jab at Sony. A great reminder that I don’t buy camera tape for this little camera which is so trendy, ie “green” technology.

And please be nice to those VSA guys, they sold me my Medea Raid 4 years ago at a price, nobody would talk about…

I love it when manufacturers build gear that does so much more at the price point, P2..
I love it when a Rep, goes the distance in getting you a great price on the gear, Jason-Tape Central.
And being a vissual guy, I just love a little humor in my life, thanks to VSA..

And for a P2 Queen, you the best 110%

    sincerely your court Jester ‘in-training’

    Rennie,

I got the the P2 plastic case….. Is all Hvx-er’s so serious… I got everything that was sold to me in perfect brand new USA shape… I have been shooting my Sony 35wsl for 4 years and before that my Sony M7 for 15 years… All I am trying to say is thanks Jan,, I am totally amazed at this little camera and all I have been able to do with it for 2 weeks is plug it into my Macbook Pro..

I have been kicking broadcast gear since my first Bolex EBM in the 70’s and I can’t wait to get my 500 financed.. The P2 gear is what I have been dreaming of for almost 3//// years… And it is so green — NO Tape — put that in your next newsletter.

    Chrispy, your comment

“Funny thing is over at the Singapore Apple webstore, when in the graphics card section of the configurator, if you click on Learn More…it mentioned of the ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB card which is highly recommended for 3D, CG or Motion but you can’t select this in the configurator. ”

intrigued me so I goggled and found this
    https://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/11/30/rv670_amd_ati_radeon_hd_3870/1

A great review of the ATI Radeon HD3870 from a “gammers” perspective. If you look at the pictures in the article They state at the bottom “embargo” somebody does not like that card in the US of A.

If you force your brain to read the article, this card sounds wonderful, like full HD video on a 30″ screen and other tid bits.. And they did make reference to where this card out shines the nvidias card… There is alot here to understand before buying the wrong card for the new PCIe-2 buss…. We need a monitor card dective that can speak are language.

I would almost be tempted to by this 3870 card, It has somebody mad….

    Rennie,

I have done this adjusting using TBC’s and CCU’s, but can you do this directly on the HVX200 or 500 cameras menus, or is this being done on the Panny switcher??

“Adjust the cam2 chroma level, phase and color temp to match the top and bottom pictures. Now swap out cam2 for cam3 and match cam 3 to cam1 the same way. “

I think the correct answer would be ” cable” — SDI is one cable,, component is 3 cables

You are facing a similar job to what I have been trying to get all the answers to. If you read some of the postings, I have read that the 500 and the 200 cuts together very well. You need more light for the 200s and the depth of field is more controlable on the 500. On our new 200 I have noticed that the zoom range is limited, so you have to be close to your subject. And if I am correct the 200 does not have SDI out, but the 500 does.. So check the inputs on the switcher. I think component in on the switcher is an optional board.

Keep me posted on your success (or). We are targeting a very similar job.
