I still don’t know about the whole compressing of quicktime files on a mac to windows media and what the deal is there but the scripting thing is huge…
Thanks A Ton

Hi,
Thanks for responding. I am pleased to say that it works really well. It’s a bit weird sometimes though – when the clip is long it seems to slide the in points down the actual clip so i’m slowing down another segment of the shot and i have to readjust it but non-the-less it worked really well with other clips. Thank you so much! Saves tons of time. I can’t believe I didn’t know this. Anyway, Thanks Again –
Cheers,

Hey thanks for responding…
My A-Pac setting? I’m using Compressor 2 and A-Pac doesn’t exist anymore…it dissappeared when I upgraded…does the setting still apply for the Dolby 2.0 setting? I think it defults around -27dbfs when creating the ac3 file. Thanks for your info…i’ll have to play around with it…
thanks,

Hi,
I’ve been working on a number of different shows that went out for broadcast and have experienced the same issue…went through the show and mixed everything down for a fairly good average peak of -12 but when I compressed for dvd the audio was quite low (where if you played the dvd, turned the volume up to hear it and then turned on the tv for cable the volume would be blasting…).
I use an external deck and usually mix everything to -12 in fcp and then adjust the audio in on the deck to get my levels really nice but i can’t do that for a dvd…
interesting…

Thanks Shane,
I didn’t think there was any possible way but the client said it was possible to “preview” or work around the footage. I was not aware of this in FCP. He suggested sony vagas (don’t know about that i would think it’d be the same situation although it’s possiable it’s a multi format system) but FCP is what we use and that’s what we have. So we knocked our heads together at the office for awhile. Then we had a bunch of “what if…” types ideas…
…those usually don’t go anywhere…
…what can’t be done can’t be done…
…thanks again for confirming my answer…
…off to render…
Thanks Again,

…I had to leave the editing room but new cords or new connectors is the first thing I’ll try…

hey all thanks for responding…
i believe it uses a sync signal…the picture on the monitor looks like there is no red or lack of it…the thing is if i giggle the switch it will stay then disappear…it’s weird..it almost looks desaturated too or at times blown out in the highlights…
…i don’t know what “termination” means…maybe a little help there and i could tell you yes or no…
thanks again all for all your help…this is nuts…
