No, not really. However, you can bake your shadow to a texture and use it in the diffusion channel of your white room material.

If you mean banking, then you can control it from the rotation spline graph in the “Details” section of your Sweep NURBS.

You are looking for an easy solution where there is none.

I think I recal lthat there is some script collection for doing so, but you may check more XSI affine forums like XSIbase for confirmation.

December 12, 2006 at 10:34 am in reply to: Animation and matrox compression question?

[Robert774] “Also I have no Idea what Matrox Compression is, Do you?”

This part is vague, you need to inquire. There is no such thing as a generic Matrox CoDec. There are major differences between Axio/ Extio (HD systems), RT systems and old DigiSuite stuff. Most likely they are using an RT system (the resolution given indicates standard NTSC 720×486).

On some level your initial suspicion is right – working in Flash isn’t that ideal. For video output you need fields and Flash does not give you this. You should also use motion blur to minimize flickering. From there it would also be easy to render out the final AVI in whatever Matrox CoDec you need.

[Roger BURTON] “Are you saying that unless I spend mega-bucks on a hardware encoder I cannot make a usable DVD ?”

No, of course not. But the lack of control over data rates and vector matrices may be a contributing factor to your problems as they produce more block artifacts, making it more noticable. I find that most factory settings of such tools operate with way too low data rates and other poorly tuned settings. Anyway, unfortunately I’m no Mac guy and I’m really not qualified to give you more advice. I hope you can sort it out and someone will chime in.

If you have Maya, do it there or otherwise you will have to spend money. Digital Anarchy’s 3DLayer can do such trickery based on Displacemnt maps, but it’s nowhere near as flexible as you could make a NURBS patch in Maya. ;o)
