I have created a 3d Logo with some lighting. I had a floor object to catch the appropriate shadows, but there is now a desire to have the logo floating in white with a shadow beneath.

I can easily do this in photoshop, but I am wondering how I can get a “white” floor so that the final render shows shadows as if the element was suspended in air in a white room.

I tried a plane object and used luminance but of course the shadows disappear. Is there a way to cast shadows without resorting to using a colored or grayed object?

    Thanks

No, not really. However, you can bake your shadow to a texture and use it in the diffusion channel of your white room material.

Put a compositing tag on the floor and check the “compositing background” box.
