If you mean a standard DVD (video), then any HD stuff is irrelevant. If you mean BlueRay (BDR) and HD-DVD, then simply use the HD presets. The real culprit are the framerates and field settings, like Adolfo said.

  • The lower two pictures are based on “strange attractors”. There is a free plugin called AEFlame that can create a subset of this type of effect. Other than that you may try Ben’s suggestions or my tips from a few days ago. In case of your radial spiky things, you should also consider builting one such spike/ beam and then clone it a bunch of times. If you use low opacity and Screen or Add blendmode, you could easily create something similar. Some kind of soft wobbly motion could then be introduced by displacement effects like Turbulent Displace.

You cannot use FLV directly. It either needs to be embedded into a SWF or streamed via an SWF player. When you import your FLV into Flash, you should be asked what you wanna do with the file. Dunno how to take it from there – I hate Flash from the bottom of my heart and only touch it with rubber gloves.

I don’t really get what you are trying to say and if you attached a picture, it’s not showing up. Your Ramp should not move intermittently when you move the object, as it is tied to the layer. Unless of course you are using some kind of matte mode or adjustment layer. The colors should not change, either. You’d only see a slight change in saturation if you use motion blur, but that’s normal. Like I said, I don’t really have a clue.

  • You should mixdown all your clips to a separate wave file you import into Encore. It’s hard to conrtrol when you are relying on the programs’ automatisms. Especially for AC3 it’s critical to be more around the -3 dB peak for proper transcodes, not 0.

I think the Brush effect is meant to re-seed at every frame. If you really need something like that, you have to build it manually and perhaps apply it as a Luma Matte or something like that.

You can link cameras without problems by using the pickwhip. Just separate the two timelines into separate windows and then link each parameter from one comp to another.

Have you created a proper audio mix with all your stuff? The mono files need to be mixed to both stereo channels or they may become to low volume to be audible.

January 20, 2007 at 3:04 pm in reply to: Exporting In after effects

Please check the AE basics forum and use the search function. Pretty much all your questions have been covered in the past. To give you a short version (and you don’t think I#m an ass entirely):

    – Export gives you access to a few file formats that make movie/ add do render queue don’t. The other way around of course the same is true – export does not support certain things on the render queue.

    – Premiere likes AVIs. If you are using a special hardware liek Matrox RT or something, encode your stuff in these CoDecs. Will save both space and maintain best possible quality along with eliminating any renders within Premiere.

As for your Flash problem – most likely your data rate is too low. You don’t normally notice that on average footage without processing, but fine lines such as Shine creates them, may force the compression to use more blocks.

January 19, 2007 at 6:56 am in reply to: Text Animation – Scale per character?

Simply add two scale animators and adjust their offset timing. One from 50-115%, another from 115-100%. Would be the easiest solution.
