I’m not sure what should be the problem. All you need to do is relate the in- and out-points to the time and use that to trigger specific text. Should be real simple.

Most likely you changed some folder names or the name of your entire disk/ partition. Just set a new location in the preferences and everything should be back to normal.

Sorry, my bad. I was having the classic Vector Paint Effect in mind. It has a squarely shaped brusch tip which allows you to properly cap ends. The trouble with this tool is that it’s a major pain in the neck just to get a smooth stroke. Again, apologies for any confusion I might have caused.

  • Uhm, DV is a compressed format based upon blocks, so what’s your point? Also if Premiere re-renders everything this will even diminish quality since it applies compression on an already compressed file. Basically what I’m saying: your workflow is wrong. Either render uncompressed from AE or use a CoDec that Premiere understands natively (depending on your hardware) and does not need to re-render). You simply need to render from AE ‘cos Premiere does not have all functions of AE. Newer versions of AE might import Premiere projects and vice versa, but beyond basic timeline transfer with a few properties and effects common to both apps you still cannot replace one with the other.

Ahem, classical keyframe animation? Shouldn’t be to difficult, since all you need to worry about is properly setting your anchor points. Using expressions seems way off for this kind of project – it takes longer to adjust the formulas before you can get to work. Anyway, you’d have to be more specific about what you are trying to do. Expressions is such a large field.

You need to duplicate your layer. Particular won’t allow you multiple instances of it on the same layer. Alternatively, animate your words in a sub-comp and use that sub-comp as the emitter layer. Also make sure your layer sampling is set to “At Birth”, not “Current Time”.

August 17, 2005 at 9:40 am in reply to: need help using echo effect

You’re sort of out of luck there. Unlike its equivalents in other plugin suites, AE’s own echo is “dumb”. It will always oversample the entire frame, not look for differences between frames. Basically you need to isolate your talents in some way, which most likely would be done with some rough animated masks in your case. If you have AE 6.5 and the CC filters you could also try CC Wide Time. It works like Echo but may yield more acceptable results.

Not stroke, but Write On. Give that a try if it is suitable for your project.

I have, but only on rare occasions since we still mostly work in standard PAL and only rarely do higher res projects. Seems to be more critical for people doing HD more often.
