    I don’t quite follow. AE is primarily a comping app and personally I never understood why it tries to work with sound beyond rendering effectzs such as Audio Spektrum etc.. If you have an Avid, I don’t see the problem. Why wouldn#t you want to work there if all the things can be done interactively while in AE you always need to do a preview to check things?

  • [friction] “Basically, its not matching the sd comp with the camera.
    Obviously there is a camera problem here..

    Why is this?
    I tried to place the camera in the hd comp as well, but since the comp sizes are diffrent things dont match..”

    No, you’re wrong, there is no problem. Your logic is flawed. Since AE always calculates in pixels and not in realworld units and the camera is tied to the composition window, changing the composition size effectively changes the projection area of the frustrum. Just like Dave said – rebuilding from scratch is about the only satisfactory solution.

  • You can import ASCII files, but not directly connect to a database or for instance Excel. There are severla threads about this already here in this forum. dio a quick search.

    March 28, 2006 at 5:37 pm in reply to: Global Changes to Mask keyframes?

    No, not really. Masks are treated relative to the layer size, not in world coordinates and you can’t access any of their parameters directly. You really can only solve this the hard way by manually scaling and adjusting the masks at every keyframe.

    March 28, 2006 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Strange Task Manager Item

    It’s the license manager that checks if your program is activated. You should only have a maximum of 2 instances (one for the video tools, the other for the CS suite; because they use slightly different versions you can’t condense it down into one as of yet) Multiple instances can just mean that somehow the install is damaged and the process may not find a DLL or something else it needs and it tries to start over and over again. Other than a re-install using the “Repair” option, I have no idea how to solve it.

    Have you checked your source files? We’ve only started to complement our DVD authoring with Encore for a certain type of project, but we had similar problems a few years back when we started to use Scenarist. It would never play entire timelines because the timecode and headers of the source files were incorrect. If you can, try to re-transcode all source files or if that’s out of the question try to check them with a native MPEG-II editing tool such as MPEG VCR. When saving again from there you should get an intact header and timecode which would be all to solve your dilemma.

    Well, safe areas still apply. The simplest reason being that even in on LCD you see not all pixels that the screen actually posseses. However, they are much smaller, more in the 2-5 percent range rather than 10. The old rule applies: The better the monitor, the more pixels it will display.

    March 27, 2006 at 11:12 am in reply to: controlling time remap with an expression.

    Try to use the Time Displacement effect and randomize its Offset parameter. Use something like that:

    seedRandom(index,true);
    my_offset=Math.round(random(-100,100));

    [my_offset]

    This way all you need to do is clone the layer without adjusting in and out points and it will still play differently for every clip.
