No. Masks are not accessible with expressions. You can only post-modify vertices e.g. by attaching them to a tracker with a JSX script. The process is slow and tedious, though. Search the main AE forum archives for some tips and links to those scripts. Unless there’s an urgent reason to use masks, you should explore other routes like using displacement effects.

May be due to the way the scale is calculated in the first place. The range that triggers the icon to scale may be to small. In that case you’d simply have re-use the code you are using there and modify the trigger distance. You might even have to use a second Null object.

Putting your merged animated object under a Null and then move the Null should work.”

You are so right. Why do those simple and obvious solutions always escape me? I seriously need a holiday *lol*. Thanks Lennart.

Yes, he probably means 1080 25i. There should be some presets in the WMV encoder that should be enough to get you started. Since this is going to be an offline project anyways, it seems, feel free to crank up the data rates.

[jimmybee500] “Very quick one..I just got an email from Digital Anarchy offering a discount on Text Anarchy. Had a quick look, but it doesn’t look like it can do anything I can’t already do in AE 7 Pro as standard….Or can it?”

Well, it does a few things automatically like the Matrix Rain, Text Grid and Screen Text, which, while not impossible to achieve with Particular and AE’s own tools, take time to create this way, especially if you need multiple instances with varied settings. If you don’t need them on a regular basis, you probably can forego them.

What tools do you have at hand and what have you tried so far? It’s not that difficult if you use Luiquify, Fractal Noise, Turbulent Displace and a few simple dissolves between various stages of “smoke”.

That won’t work. A keyframe is a unique property/ state of animation at a given time and unfortunately C4D has no such thing as “move animation path”. You can however affect multiple keyframes by adding values numerically in the F-Curve editor or coordinate manager. All input fields in C4D support basic math, so if yoou enter +100 for instance, it will be added to the original value rather than setting it as an new absolute value.

    [JoeV]
I basically have a comp with several 3D layers all auto oriented toward camera – my problem is that when I pre-comp these layers and rasterize the comp the layers no longer auto orient toward my camera… (which they should)”

No, they shouldn’t. If you use continuous rasterize/ collapse transformations, the camera in the pre-comp becomes irrelevant and only the camera of the topmost comp is used. The behavior is correct. If you need the auto orient, use expressions. Apply a simple lookAt(position,thisComp.layer(“Camera”).position) to the orientation property of each layer.

No. Getting the rotation and alignment problems right should be no problem, though. Check your “Fix Clone” settings and your fish hierarchy. Maybe simply place it below a properly oriented Null. If it still looks crooked, add a target effector and use one of the up-vector options. For the deformation you need to place the deformer on the original object.
