Its just never easy… I have a fish…. I want to move multiple versions along a spline. The spline extends towards the z Axis then drops down along the y then turns right for a while then turns back to the left and along the z axis again.

All I want is the damn fish to follow the spline facing forward as they travel.

Cloner with spline effector. The fish will not stay oriented properly. I can get them to face in the direction they are traveling but they turn to the side in one area, flip 180 in another.

I have tried constraints. There doesn’t seem to be an up vector control to or a “tangential” option.

I’m sure I am missing something simple.

    Anything?

Is there a way using the cloner to achieve these three things simultaneously.

Multiple clones move along a complex spline with twists and turns in all directions… while also

Deforming along the shape of the spline… while also

Keeping (lets say) the z Axis always facing the direction of the spline while keep its rotation properly referenced to the spline.

This is something ou were able to do pretty well and simply with MSA…

    THANKS

No. Getting the rotation and alignment problems right should be no problem, though. Check your “Fix Clone” settings and your fish hierarchy. Maybe simply place it below a properly oriented Null. If it still looks crooked, add a target effector and use one of the up-vector options. For the deformation you need to place the deformer on the original object.
