Hello! Old post but still thought I will post my method.

    1. Create a shape layer with Circle
    2. Add repeater, make Position (0,0)
    3. Adjust the number of copies/rotation (under repeater transformation)
    4. Fine tuning point 3 will give you a nice circle with dots

    Hope this helps.

Hey malcolm, can you kindly share how you solved the 1280 x 720 converting into 1164 x 720 after the export from Boujou?

Everything works fine for me but this resolution change causing my nulls to move here and there.

    Thankx so much.

  • Thankx Again Darby, this is another excellent tip. God Bless!

Why not have a thread called “AE for Professionals” and not allow NOOB’s like us to post there. If we do then ban us.

As a AE student, COW has been such a wealth of information and for kind replies and to call a post ‘Advanced’ or ‘Interesting’ is subjective.

Not all of us are genius I guess, I read most part of the manual and missed a tiny thingy that you can see the individual layer render timings by clicking the small arrow under render queue. (This was cleared by a reply by Bill Kelly.) Not that I missed on purpose while I was reading but it just didn’t strike me. 🙁

For Noob’s, this is such a great place to interact with professionals like you. Please continue your support.

  • Brilliant! Thankx so much Bill, I tried that and I can see all my costly layers caught in action :-).

Thankx Joe and David for sharing your experience.

    COW Rocks!!!!

  • Very Old thread but still I thought I will add one more way to do this to the existing million ways 🙂

    1. Draw a Star Shape layer (center it)
    2. Increase Points > 20
    3. Inner Radius = 0
    4. Outer Radius = Large value to cover your solid
    5. Adjust the inner and outer roundness to make it look flat
    6. Lo! Sun Burst 🙂

And since this is shape layer then probably you can do more magic.

PS: I think the initial question may not be valid as I am not sure if Shape layers were there in 2006 version of After effects. I started from CS3
