Just started using boujou. I’ve watched all of the online tutorials I could find.

Everything’s been going fine right up till I import my jpeg sequence and lay it over my comp created from the .ma file.

the null objects and the footage don’t match up like they do in Boujou. It’s just like they’re out of sync. the pans and tilts are just off. It’s like the comp I rendered out and the comp I imported don’t have the same in/out point or something.

Also, my footage I exported to Boujou is 720×1280. However, when I open up the comp from boujou, it’s 720×1164.

I don’t really have the one piece of the puzzle to put this all together.

Could any more experienced users out there give me a hint?

    thanks.

I haven’t used boujou extensively but i believe there are issues with the coordinate systems, since Maya uses a 0 to 1 system and AE doesn’t.

I remember doing it once and when i imported the track to AE, i had to scale it down to about 1% to make it fit. I don’t know if there’s a step you can take to automate this, and i don’t think it’s always going to be the same amount of scaling… but try that, perhaps?

what do you mean by a zero to one scale? What exactly am I scaling down?

The first reply to this question explains what I was saying :

The last reply goes into the whole thing of “units” a bit, though i haven’t tried what he suggested.

okay, I tried following his steps this morning but they were a little vague and confusing (maybe I’m just too new to this). Still couldn’t get the nulls to line up right.

I recorded a short screen capture that illustrates my problem. Hopefully someone has a few more suggestions.

In reading up on some different forums, it seems like PFT is also a pretty popular 3D motion tracker. I may try that soon if it interacts with AE any better.

mkay. Just watched a few Andrew Kramer tutorials. I think I might have chosen the axises wrong.

    Let’s see if I can fix this…

    YES YES YES YES!

okay! got it tracking perfectly and lined up in AE. I had my axises mixed up a bit.

Before, I hadn’t established a Z axis or an Origin. so, this time, I selected both x,y,z axises along with an origin point.

I also made the mistake of having different frame rates in AE than in Boujou. Doh!!!!

All is well now. Thank you all for you help.

Hey malcolm, can you kindly share how you solved the 1280 x 720 converting into 1164 x 720 after the export from Boujou?

Everything works fine for me but this resolution change causing my nulls to move here and there.

    Thankx so much.
