Memory usage doesn’t come down after rendering!
Hello friends,
After I render a 30 sec composition, the AfterFX.exe goes to 1.2 GB
of RAM usage. Ok fine, you require some memory for rendering. But the issue is that the Memory usage still remains at 1.2 GB even if I start a new project. So everytime I render, I make sure I restart AE for fresh projects.Is this normal?
PC – Intel Core 2 Chipset, 4 GB Ram

i think that is probably normal… 1.2gb is right around where the default maximum ram cache would be set. as ae hits that cache limit it just starts writing over that cache, it doesn’t purge the whole cache then start over. it’s more efficient that way.
however, since the ram cache from the previous project wouldn’t be needed, you could try edit>purge>all when you start a new project. it would be faster than restarting ae.
