[Matt Murray] “Read this thread, but in a nutshell YES, you will get the $499 price as per Apple rep for Pro Apps.”
Hi,
Actually according to that thread the answer is NO which matches the pricing information on Apples Web Site.

Hi,
You can download a QT Internet radio show here that has an interview with an author who is writing a book for Peachpit on Soundtrack Pro. Its the second interview in the April 18th (NAB Day 1) show. From the interview it sounds like it is an excellent application.

Hi,
Here are instructions and a list of compatible computers. Your problem is that the G3 can not be used as a target.
https://www.macdoc.com/faq/firewire.htmlTry booting the G3 in OSX and using the G4 as the target.
BTW I found this by searching for “firewire target mode” at google.

Hi,
On the Mac instead of duplicating the folder use one folder and put alias’s in the respective locations.

[Adolfo Rozenfeld] “Of course DV is pretty nice. The problem with HDV is that it’s not DV – it has three times more compression than DV (this is, three times more pixels with the same data rate and a quite old codec).”
Hi Adolfo,
The amount of compression is not necessarily a valid way to evaluate this. MPEG2 DVD’s sourced from 35mm film can look better than anything shot on DV and the compression is much more. I’m not saying your conclusion is necessarily incorrect, just that the amount of compression doesn’t (IMO) constitute a proof.

Hi,

[Don Greening] “I knew there was a reason to wait and use use my G4 a little longer.”
Hi Don,
You might want to get a G5 now and then upgrade again later. If you do a nice ebay add and get a refurb G5 it won’t cost you that much.
I sold my DP 867 on Ebay with a few extras for $1,400 and got an Apple refurb (full warranty) Rev A DP 1.8 G5 for $1,800.

Hi,
I would be more inclined to update FCP to 4.5 or update both the OS and FCP.
Before you update use the restore tab in disk utility to clone your boot partition to another empty partition. Click erase destination and it will verify the copy. Do this even if you have to purchase a small drive for the purpose. When finished use the finder to rename the destination partition to avoid confusion. (DU will rename it to match the original). You can boot to it to test it if you want but this should not be necessary.
This will not take very long and you won’t be burning any bridges behind you. Very cheap insurance.
If you do decide to update do the following:
run disk utility (from your cloned partition or the CD) to repair the boot partition
repair permissions
download and run the “Combination Updater”
repair permissions.Best Wishes,
