update to os10.3.8 with fcp 4.1
Have you heard of any known problems with updating to os10.3.8 when I work with fcp 4.1 ? I’ve checked out apple’s website but can’t find any – yet I’ve had problems updating before.

Hi,
I would be more inclined to update FCP to 4.5 or update both the OS and FCP.
Before you update use the restore tab in disk utility to clone your boot partition to another empty partition. Click erase destination and it will verify the copy. Do this even if you have to purchase a small drive for the purpose. When finished use the finder to rename the destination partition to avoid confusion. (DU will rename it to match the original). You can boot to it to test it if you want but this should not be necessary.
This will not take very long and you won’t be burning any bridges behind you. Very cheap insurance.
If you do decide to update do the following:
run disk utility (from your cloned partition or the CD) to repair the boot partition
repair permissions
download and run the “Combination Updater”
repair permissions.Best Wishes,
