[Chris Babbitt] “I just noticed some odd behavior with 5.1.4. I created some text in LiveType, saved it, and brought it into FCP. It looked normal until I rendered it. Yuk! So I created the same text with the same font & same size in Title 3D, brought it in and rendered, and it looks fine. Motion Filtering Quality is set to Best, but changing the setting doesn’t seem to make any difference. I’ve done a lot of successful work in Live Type, so I don’t think it’s anything I’m doing wrong.”
Can you tell us exactly what you used? While un-scientific, I just did a quick test of Livetype in 5.1.4 on the Intel MBP, and it appears to be fine.

[Shane Ross] “I see all 10 in the Import window. Then I highlight them all and put them in the IMPORT QUE and they begin to import. Then I get exclaimation points next to 6 of them, indicating an error importing. IN the import window, 4 clips have the circle to the left of them darkened, indicating they have imported properly. I go to the capture scratch folder and see that yes, only those 4 clips have been imported.”
Shane, yesterday I had something similar occur, but it’s still different than yours. Only 28 of the 29 clips would show up in the P2 Import window. Nothing I did would make the last one (the first clip actually) appear. It was on the P2 Store, but no joy. I finally put the card back in the camera and it was white with the red X on it. It worked perfectly before, but now it was damaged.
So I repaired the clip in the camera and got it playing in the camera. I then erased the P2 Store HD and then re-transferred the entire folder and last clip file again. Now, all 29 show up and import as usual.
The camera in question was really old firmware… 1.03. Last night I updated to 2.03 on both cameras, so I’ll track to see if it happens again.

[Shane Ross] “My firmware version is 3.03.”
Shane,
The first camera is: 2.02
The second camera is: 1.03BTW, the Panasonic site shows 2.03 as the newest. How did you get 3.03?

Shane,
Are you going to post your firmware version as part of tracking this clip import problem? If you want to know our two (since we don’t have the isuue) let us know…

I agree, since I also have a G5 Dual 2.0, PowerBook G4, and new C2D MBP, and have not seen that. Did you want to post your firmware versions? If you want I can check mine and post them on our two HVX’s…

Shane,
I definitely haven’t seen that on on the G5’s or the Intels. That is ugly. Has anyone tracked to see if it’s certain Mac models… OS versions, FCP versions, etc.?

[Shane Ross] “Doesn’t fix the problems that many of us are having importing P2 footage with 5.1.2. I still only got 4 out of 10 clips to import. Meaning that I still need to resort to FCP 5.1.1 for my importing needs.”
Shane,
I import P2 clips roughly three times a week and have not seen this once. I’ve had giant clips that span three cards and lots of short clips on a single card, and have still not experienced this. I do know that Panasonic has an FAQ out on how to solve this problem. It’s at: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/faq/P2store_macmount_e.pdf
They claim this phenomenon affects Mac Pro and MBP (Intel based) more than the PowerPc, but it seems odd that I haven’t seen this once on our MBP C2D 17?

[David Saraceno] “As I stated, duel systems has an PC Card to ExpressCard/34 adapter in beta testing for release early in January.”
As I understood it, it would be available in very limited quantities in January, and February for most of us. They were waiting for the latest P2 driver from Panasonic, which I took to mean the one that supports the upcoming 16GB cards…

Bill,
Have done a ton of dolly shots with both of our 200’s… usually in 24pN. Haven’t had a single drop out. Sorry, I can’t shed any light on your issue…
