Since you are familiar with video editing concepts, you should be able to learn PPro quickly.

When I started PPro, I had already been using a different brand of software. When I started PPRo, I didn’t know any body who used it, so I learned on my own. I did buy Adobe’s Classroom In A Book, for PPro. The helped the transition. And I did put the book down, after I went through only half the lessions. That was enough to get familiar with the interface.

I never took a sit down class.

There are free tutorial’s on the web. See Steven Gotz’s and Wrigley’s web sites.

    Just do it!

  • I have a Sony Vaio, that came with Premiere 6.5 LE from the factory. LE was almost full featured, but it didn’t have the Burn to DVD. That’s why I removed it, and added Premiere Pro 1.0. I am now up to PPro 1.5.1.

Actually, I errored in my response. You could download from your camcorder’s analog port (RCA) and view on Giga Pockets. You could just NOT use it a DV input. The analog signal goes to Sony’s proprietary program.

You said it is not functional, but it is. Plug a device into the RCA ports in front or back of the VAIO, Open Giga Pockets, click on the button called CH (for Channel) between the – and +, select the port you plugged in (front/back), and view.

I have a Sony RZ. Those analogs ports are for Sony’s “Giga Pockets” to use, or for viewing a VCR or DVD player on your PC. .

I have a DVD player connected to the RCA ports, and can check DVD’s I have made.

They are NOT for capturing from your DV camcorder.
