My guess it’s going to backfire. How many rotoscoped 4k frames a week can you expect from a guy who just paid a hundred grands to learn magic? First week? Second week? Seventh week?

Whatever software you use in the field should have a checksum and create report of what was copied and where. You should have some form of LTO back-up in the house. You should keep one copy offsite.

You don’t need to use the mouse to select the clip in FCP. X, Option-A (watch your AutoSelect state).

There used to be a lot of quality content before mid-2000 but now there is so little it doesn’t worth getting a TV. Another problem is foreign channels in most cable packages are dubbed and that makes them unwatchable too.

Not all of Decklinks support LUT’s. Go to System Preferences>Blackmagic Design>Processing>Output Processing. If there is a “Lookup Table” button and it is not grayed out you’re lucky. The list of supported formats and other details are in the manual. Sorry, I don’t have any relevant hardware at hand at the moment.
Another option is to go to you monitor menu and if there is gamma adjustment crank it way up. Boost saturation a bit too.

What I was thinking is loading a LUT into your hardware: I/O card like Decklink or Kona, HDlink, even a monitor.
