FCP to PP – a few questions
Hello,
I’m an eventual FCP defector and just used Premiere Pro for a really basic job and I like what I see so far. Have I read the entire manual yet? No, but I did find a lot of info in the Adobe Help area. Here are some questions that I do have for the community which will be easier to just “put out there”. Remember my point of reference is FCP.
• When copying / pasting attributes do I need to unlink video from audio first? Meaning will it bring over unwanted attributes to the entire target clip (i.e. unwanted audio attributes when I just want to paste Scaling)?
• Is there a way to move clips / titles / slugs up and down tracks with a keyboard command?
• Can you not make a kb shortcut for “Reveal in project”? I didn’t see that being customizable
• In FCP I often would temporarily assign a color to a group of clips in the Browser so I could quickly ID them in the sequence (like for copying / pasting attributes). Can this be done in PP? I did see in a tutorial that you can find every instance of a used clip but this isn’t exactly what I’m going for.
• Is there a way to option-shift-drag clips to duplicate or do I need to do the “matchframe-then-overcut” method, or copy – paste [somewhere close) then drag into desired position?
• Is there a way to keep playhead/CTI playing when [up / down] arrow jumping from clip to clip?
• I use “close-gap” often, but my experience has been PP wants to ignore the fact that a gap is closed even when it reaches the tail of a clip on a different track. Example- my slugs or B-Roll clips move as far left as they can go. I would love help with this one.
Thanks in advance, I look forward to using this again soon.
