It looks good to me (is it the footage of a train, the link you supplied didn’t work, so I searched it), considering it’s only SD.
Maybe it was just what Zane said, it takes time for YouTube to finalise the upload and
to show up in full quality.
First time I was shocked to, then 15 min later, everything lookd fine.Mio

August 1, 2010 at 9:43 am in reply to: Which External Hard Drive(s) for Video Storageif you decide to stay on Canon XL1, which is really outdated (SD, 4:3, tape),
I’d suggest you get a Firestore FS-4 or FS -4 Pro, hard drive for simultaneous recording to tape and a hard drive.
Not only that gives you an instant back up, but it shortens the time required to get your footage
to your FCP for editing. There is no digitizing tapes, no capture, just connect your Firstore and transfer your Quick Time files.Secondly, if you decide to go the route described bellow by Chris, you can piggy back via firewire your Firestore instead your Canon moreover for the facy that Canon’s firewire is somewhat temperamental.
Finally, if you don’t like the idea of piggy backing hard drive to a hard drive via firewire, you can first
transfer your footage from Firestore to your MacBook Pro’s internal hard drive, then disconnect your
Firestore and connect your external hard drive and then copy your footage from MacBook Pro to your external hard drive.Mio

Thanks Jeremy, I keep two QT copies plus MXF while I’m working on a project,
after that everything depends on the fact whether I might be coming back to that
future project or not.
If not, I only keep QT files. -
That’s a fair point, thanks Adam.

Why? What I’m potentially loosing by tossing them out (considering I’m still holding on Quick Time files?
-
Thanks mate.
This was a small thing, I’ve got QT copy of final cut (sequence) and QT copies of all clips,
but there is no chance that this one we’ll need any “makeover”.When we already touching this back up thing, is there any difference in keeping back up files of ingested
Quick Time clips from backed up P2 cards with all structure?I know what Shane’s saying: “would you throw out your tape…”
but in essence am I losing anything here, I mean, I’m not using the features like metadata…Mio

Just yesterday I got this review from Cow, about G-Drive Mobile:

FC Express 4 was released in 2007 (wow, just another reminder about Apple’s treatment of pro or if you wish semi pro users) and last G5 in 2006 so it’s logical that they are compatible.
FCP 7 came out 2 and half years later and that’s a looong time in this business.

That’s right… Elegant “Share” (primary school analogy) reminds me so much about first iMovie version,
“just send your edited masterpiece to iDVD…” and what… come back next morning and check your DVD.
That’s new FCP 7 Share function. It’s so good that nobody is using it.
Steve J. heard about us winging about Blu Ray and he gave as Blu Ray just to patch it up.
When I was warning 3 years ago about Pro applications users being ignored I was crucified…
I’m sort of happy about the new iPhone blunder (they still manage to keep the lid pretty well though),
maybe it will bring Apple back to us, pro users, but I won’t hold my breath. It’s more likely that my wife will get an iFridge, supposedly it orders your groceries through iTunes and for extra $$$ comes with built in Apple TV so she never misses another installment of Desperate Housewives.
