I’m sad to here all that that’s happened to you, but as I already mentioned, these cameras are PAL (as opposite to those you use in USA where is NTSC system) and can’t be used in USA.
Footage from those cameras would not be able to play on your TV or used with your footage. -
Hey Vicki,
“Eject Tape” doesn’t mean that tape transposrt mechanism has south gone again, it might just need head cleaning.
I usually try first the head cleaning tape (read manual or instructions on cleaning tape itself), if doesn’t get fixed from one 10 sec go, then I try another one.
If that doesn’t work I send it to service (not Canon, just a camcorder service) for head cleaning ($70)
and that fixes it.About Canon’s job on these GL2 tape mechanisms, you are absolutely right… substandard.
Finally, if you were using PAL, I’d offer you my 2 GL2 (it’s XM2 here in Australia) they’ve been sitting here last 12 months as I’m now mostly using my new Panasonic HPX170 (with cards, so no tape transp. mech. here any more 🙂

It took over those pages through Firefox too.
Restarting computer solved the problem… unbelievable…

No, it’s my computer, some eToro thing somehow got into my Safari and was displaying different page for Apple with lots of their (eToro) marketing messages.
Same happened to me when trying to access LinkedIn.Pretty agressive. Never happened before /:

I mean the rest of the animations too, swirly shapes that vibrate and other objects, how I can make them
to vibrate, is this some kind of behavior in After Effects or Motion or just a plug in? -
[Walter Soyka] o”and I ought to stop calling it an upgrade.”
Well, it’s not easy, because calling FCP X is an insult for itself (I mean apart from this move to ditch pro market, a whole application, I did give my strong critique of this software as soon as sneak preview was held 2 months ago, because I saw it coming and I saw it coming for few years now).
Having all this aside, if we admit; yes, they are after the profit and after the “i” revolution, and they don’t care about us…
BUT why call it “Final Cut Pro X” or “FCP anything”, when it clearly has nothing to do with FCP!That’s just simply misleading. That’s why word “upgrade” is in our mind.
I said this before too; unless “X” stands for “EX” 🙂 spot on.

I just recently upgraded from FCP 5.1.4 to FCP 7.0.3 no problems.
In fact it was a clean install (on a separate boot drive), but for the sake of installing procedure (and your serial number problem) it’s everything the same.
When you insert you UPGRADE discs, FCP asks you first for the serial number OF THOSE UPGRADE DISCS,
later (I’m, not sure at what stage, probably at the end) FCP asks you for the serial number OF YOUR ORIGINAL DISCS.I was too at first confused and typing in original numbers, but then realised what numbers is asking for.

Well, my logic is to give to a person a bit wider answer, more info,
more options, since it is obvious that Kryštof is not an experienced
FCP user (“7200rpm hdd connected via USB 2.0 would be sufficient?”).If I was on KryÅ¡tof’s place, I’d hate to make a purchase only to discover that I’ve had other options,
especially like this one ($300 extra for bigger screen and luxury of ExpressCard/34 slot). When I come across post like this I don’t want to feed information on a straw, just tell him everything
you might think can be useful for someone in his position.Obviously, if he’s not aware of ‘editing via USB issue’, then he’s definitely not aware of advantages
having an ExpressCard/34 slot.Mio

I know what you said, but when you already mentioned 17″, why old one ??
why not current one?
(especially after you were talking about Thunderbolt). It’s only $300 between 17″ and higher specs 15″ model.

Yes Andy, I meant ExpressCard/34 slot (for connecting eSata drives.
Thunderbolt is here but why limit yourself to new Thunderbolt equipped externals,
and all that daisy chaining…So, why old MacBook Pro 17″, when he can have new one?
