Also,
HDV? I would say to be careful. Judging by some of the mixed reviews and the lack of Broadcasters catching on to the HDV craze. There might be not such format in a few years, I know its hard to believe. There are a few formats that just seemed to have “missed its mark”. You might want to downconvert to standard def and keep your masters on HDV for an online in HD. I just finished a doc that was shot in HD on standard def. The broadcasters in canada can’t handle HD so to upgrade the edit suite for HD would’ve been a bit premature. Anyways, just my thoughts…
Good luck in whatever you do!

Ok, it was a stupid question. I got tired and looked it up. Add Keyframe (control+K) Previous Keyframe (option+K) Next Keyframe (shift+K). Just in case anyone else is as lazy as me. Now you’ll know.
I’ll make sure my next post is much more difficult.
Later.

Hey Rodney,
CRT monitor hey? Well depends on if you are going SDI or composite? Do you have any analog decks for inputs?
We have a cheaper JVC compostie input monitor here. It works great. What you’re looking for though is an analog output from FCP. There are a few options here. We run the AJA i/o LA, it gives a composite output that we run to our monitor plus it gives component I/O for out beta deck. I think the I/O runs about $1000 but is worked great for us. Another option is getting a Blackmagic decklink card (https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/sd/) There are a range of cheap cards that work great. If you dont have any need for an analog input you could always just use whatever deck you have and run RCA out to your monitor and use a RCA to BNC adapter to plug into your monitor. Not the best way, but for the $15 it is alot cheaper than purchasing a capture card, especially if its not going to be useful to you. (if you don’t have a need for component or SDI inputs)
Hope this helps!

Is it possible to upgrade my single G4 450mhz processor to a dual 1ghz? If so, where can I find upgrade kits in canada? Thanks for the advice on the mini.

Hey,
Any chance of you posting this? It sounds like a prety interesting effect. Let me know if you can put this up.
Thanks,

Ya, Mpeg2 didn’t make the FCP team this year. I talked to apple and they are moving all mpeg compressions to compressor now. It is only a problem on Tiger “fresh” installs. If you upgrade you can still use mpeg2 as an export out of QT (not FCP5 though – it comes up with a “you need to render window” even though nothing needs rendering.) Sorry to break it to you but looks like you should make compressor your new friend. Compressor 2 seems to be good so far.
Good luck,

June 7, 2005 at 4:34 pm in reply to: URGENT! Import/Export problems with FCP media to MotionThat WOULD make sense. But changing the original files could be a little sketchy. The first option you had seems to be a decent workaround. Exporting from FCP into Motion and then export as a uncompressed piece of video to import into FCP. Version 2 is now shipping also so you might want to try that out and see if your embedding problem dissappears with version 1.0.1. It might be some conflicting piece of software on your computer? Since it works on your G4.
Good luck,

Ya,
Not sure what he said or how they got rid of the artifacts on the promo DVD but it would be a great help if someone knew. Plus it would probably make a few more people interested in the Z1 since the biggest reason for people choosing the other cameras seems to be the lack of 24p. -
Hello,
Thanks for the info. I am trained in after effects except we stopped using it at version 4.5. The effects aren’t difficult and I know that i could re-create them in motion but they are 80% complete and I just wanted to pick up where they left off. That is why i am wondering if I could import the after effects timeline into motion? i’m sure this can’t be done so I guess it looks like ebay is the best option.
Thanks again,
mikeps – any good “classroom in a book” style training for Motion?
