Most computers could not decompress and playback smoothly any codec that compresses 1920 x 1080 to such a high degree. Less compression (higher bitrate) cause playback issues without at least a SATA Raid.
You really need much less resolution for local playback or author to a Blue Ray disc for playback on a Blue Ray player.
If for local playback, what is the resolution of your screen? -
It is a platform issue, Apple takes care of its own and so does MS and neither cares much about the other.

Obviously, but we dont know what is the difference. Why not use Microsoft’s free encoder or even better, Camtasia 5.

The 4 GB limit is the file type; Microsoft AVI and DV AVI along with Mpeg 2 are Open DML files that can exceed Windows 4 GB file limit.

Using Premiere 2 to create a DVD, especially a long 2 hour one, can cause quality issues because Premiere does not do Dolby audio encoding and PCM requires 1.2 mbps over Doldy.
Export from Premiere as Mpeg 2 DVD, 2 pass VBR, Minimum=2mbps, Target=4.4 mbps, Maximum= 7 mbps.The results will create 2 files, video and audio, bring both into Encore and author. Encore can do Dolby.

I just did a screen capture using Windows Media Encoder 9…4 minutes long and all imported fine into CS3. What app are you using to screen capture?

I dont see any clues, except VC-1. I think requires Windows Media Player 11 to install the decompressor. Is you experience with this file and 1.5 and CS3 on the same PC? How about another similar file?

As neither format contains a codec, they should be equal. (Choosing Apple None or Microsoft None as the Compressor)

Download a free app called GSpot and open your video in that. It will analyze the properties of the clip. What are the video properties?

Try 2 things;
1. Change the file extension to .wmv
2. Failing that, I would try to re-index the file. Windows Media Encoder 9 is free from MS. It includes 4 utilities, one is File Editor. Open your video in the Windows Media File Editor and choose “Save as and Index”.
