The red images are put there by Premiere as placeholders for the missing frames. This video played in Media Player wont show red images, but if you look closely, you may or not see a small studder.

The red images indicate frames have been lost/dropped on capture, which will cause audio sync issues as well. Make sure you have no anti-virus apps running, your capture drive is less than half full (and not your system drive) and defragmented and dont use the computer for anything else while capturing.

[dasca thea] “will dynamic link from the master collection work with the separate premiere?”

I have no experience with that installation process.

I also dont understand how you bought a Beta set of DVDs for the Master Collection. You can try uninstalling premiere and soundbooth and reinstalling, but I doubt it will work. Your best bet it to do as I suggested, clean off the entire previous collection and reinstall a genuine collection.

You will need to uninstall your previous installations, then run a small app from Adobe called “Clean Sweep” for CS5, reboot and run it again, reboot and install the new version.

A shotgun to fix the videographer…
Try the Shadows and Highlights effect….,turn off “Auto…” and try darkening the highlights. Dont expect any more details in the faces, they are gone.

Are you using a trial version?? If not, what are the properties of your video, especially the codec…use GSpot to view, it is a free download.

    From Adobe forum

Check the size of your project file? Premiere has a bug where the project file bloats to sizes that will keep your projects from opening. The work around for now is if you can get it to open to delete all your preview and render files and then re-save. It should bring your project file down to a manageable size.

The process of transferring data via firewire from a camera can be troublesome.
There is no error checking protocol unlike USB…the camera says “Here it comes, ready or not” and the computer does its best to catch all the data. Using the system drive to capture to or having virus scanning running are probably the 2 biggest problems.
