Premiere is doing a lousy job of deinterlacing your footage. Try selecting “Use Maximaum Render Quality” from the fly out menu in the Export Settings window.
If your target is computer monitors, shoot/edit/export progressive. Also try having the camera down convert to SD on capture…saves a bunch of time. -
Expand the audio track to reveal the yellow volume rubber band. Use the CTRL key to modify the selection tool and click on the rubber band to add 2 keyframes. Drag the second keyframe down and to the right into the bottom/right corner of the track.

None of those older versions were certified for Vista. I would hold out for CS3 or 4.

Closing any of Premiere’s windows does not affect the Project. Choose Windows>Workspace>Restore Default Workspace, then select the clip in the timeline and the Effects Controls window should show your Chroma Key.

I would try plugging in my camera/cable to a different computer. If that connects, then your firewire card is suspect.

I suspect an incompatible video card or driver. Intel on-board video can be problematic.

Capture is simply data transfer from tape to hard drive…no changes are available. The DV codec works fine as an acquisition format. No advantage to converting to a different codec.

I can drag out the bottom of the Metadata Display window to the height of my monitor and see most of the choices, although there is a scroll bar as well.
