Your “Playback Settings” may be set to External Device rather than Desktop Speakers….(at the bottom of the wing menu for the Program Monitor)

Do you have virus or spyware scanners running?
Is your video drive full and/or badly fragmented?
Is your video drive external USB?Start>Run and enter dxdiag
look at each page near the bottom…should say “No Problems found” -

Previewing images at less than actual pixels can be misleading…in Photoshop, Premiere or any other app. Suggest set zoom level of the Program window to 100%. If there is still an issue, right click on the Jpeg in the timeline and choose Field Options> Flicker Removal.

Shoot the Powerpoint only for timing reference. Get a copy of the PP, export as Jpegs and use those in Premiere. Edit a mix of only talking head, only PP slides and PP slides with a small PIP of the talking head.

Try turning off any DV device attached to your PC.

You must have the correct Project Setting for export to work.
If you are in the Netherlands, the correct Project setting will be either DV-PAL Standard (or Widescreen) 32HZ. You should be able to simply play the timeline and see the movie in the VX1000 viewfinder. -
It has been awhile, but I remember enabling record mode as pressing 2 buttons on the touch pad at the same time…the Play button and one other button next to it.

Your Sequence preset should be either “AVCHD 1080i30 Anamorphic” or
“AVCHD 1080i30”. Not sure what the Cine mode is on your camera but it might involve the Pixel Aspect Ratio and the Anamorphic option (1.333 par). Copy/paste all the clips in your current timeline to the new sequence…no red line should be the results. -
Give us the details of your export settings that result in the poor encodes.
