Not sure that I’m picturing it the same as you are, but I’m thinking that you could use some masking.

This talks about keying, but also masking:

    Hi Paul,

Just wanted to see if you had any luck with the Ki Pro/Premiere on a PC setup? I have a similar work flow and I’m considering the Ki Pro, so I wanted to ask if you ran into any problems?

    Thanks.

How are you sending the project to Adobe Media Encoder? By choosing “file > export > Adobe Media Encoder” while in Premiere? Try closing Premiere, opening Media Encoder and choosing “file > add Premiere Pro sequence”. Does that work?

It’s not a fix, but maybe a workaround to keep you moving.

By the way, I’m using CS4. CS5 is installed on my home computer, and I’m not there at the moment, so I don’t know if it’s the same process as CS4.

What format was this shot in? Most importantly, what frame rate and interlaced/progressive settings?

Check your sequence settings. You must have your sequence set to be a 4:3 resolution.

It depends on how you’re planning on playing this video file later in the evening. Off a laptop connected to a projector? Using a stand alone DVD player?

I bet a H.264 file exported and played off your laptop will do the trick. You won’t have to waste time burning a DVD, and you can keep it HD using Quicktime for playback. Just test it and make sure that your laptop can handle the playback smoothly. Don’t use an old, underpowered laptop with a slow hard drive.

You need to increase the duration time of your composition by clicking the “composition” menu, then “composition settings”, then increase the duration time.

What model iMac is it? It might just be that it has a firewire 800 port on it, and you just don’t have the correct cable.

  • Followup…..I think “stutter” is a better word to describe what I’m seeing.
