I used to work for one of the manufacturers of these boards. Which Stadium are you doing? 32 pixels high sounds about right. They’re usually built in modules that are 16×16 pixels or 8×8 pixels. Most of them are either 24, 32 or 48 pixels tall. The 100 dpi sounds out of place, probably info from an account executive rather than a video person. You can Export an uncompressed AVI from the File/Export menu. Just render an uncompressed Quicktime first and export that. The real trick is working on a Comp that is 4000 pixels wide. Dual monitors are a must. I’ve done some that are 24,000 pixels wide ( 360 degrees arounf a basketball/hockey arena). What a nightmare.

It runs really fast on Intel Macs.

I run into this sometimes. Try directly selecting the path in Illustrator with the white arrow tool.

What version of AE, and what kind of machine are you on?

I’m with you… same problem. From what I’ve read it’s supposed to “initialize” multi-processing once per session, but it seems to do it for every preview. What gives?

I’ve noticed some weird 3D issues as well. I’m not sure if they’re unique to CS3 or I just didn’t encounter them in 7.0. Try putting your chess board layer below the other layers in the comp window. This usually works for me. Has anyone seen any threads that discuss the render order for 3D comps? I vaguely recall reading something some where that explained what’s going on with this problem.

  • Where did you see it for $299. That’s a great deal.

The bubbles were created with one of Particular’s standard presets. I’ve used them in a couple of spots as well.

You can see people holding the flashlights in many of the shots… take a look at the very last shot.

  • MOTOR by Imagineer is pretty good but a little pricey. MOKEY would do this shot in a snap but is even more pricey.
