Gilles, I’d do it as VBR.
Make sure to use Best mode for your render.
I use Mark’s calculator and got the following numbers.
2,672,000 / 4,456,000 / 7,800,000 -
I forgot to mention that there are a number of tutorials on the HitFilm site with some dedicated to this specific version.
This one does not have an upgrade option but my suspicion is that when the offer expires next month, they will have an offer for anyone who did download it. Once again, this is an uneducated guess 🙂

Roger, you can render the project out as an MP4 (H.264 codec), AVI (DV NTSC, DV PAL and Uncompressed) or Image sequence (PNG, JPG and BMP) and bring that into Vegas.
If you have Pro 12, there’s a “right-click on an event – Add HitFilm Effect” option which launches HitFilm and adds it as a take.
I had no problems doing both when I played with it yesterday.
There’s a button on the bottom right of the page that I linked to that says “Get HitFilm2 Express Now”. Click on it and follow the prompts.

Gilles, DVDA wrongly assumes that everything is ready when you launch it and that no more changes are going to be needed.

Gilles, I’m pretty sure you have Photoshop.
Change the default in DVDA to that.

Grazie is right about the Credit Roll being nasty. I only use it as a very last resort when I have to get something out in a hurry and don’t care about the quality of the titles.
Here are two threads that go into different methods that, IMO, give you a superior end product.

The problem with doing it that way is that, as you’ve already found out, by stretching it you reveal what you’ve chopped off.
The easiest way to do what you want is to copy the shortened event, paste it into the empty space and adjust it as needed.
You’ll have to experiment by butting the new one up against the original one and see how it sounds. If that doesn’t work, then drag it over top of the original one for a fade from one to the other. Since this is a song, the amount of overlap will depend on how good it sounds to your ears. -
