Do you have a DVD drive on your computer?
If so, Vegas 6.0c added DVD import capability.
File – Import – DVD Camcorder disc.
6.0d added scene detection capability. -
OK, now I’m really curious.
What do you consider to be PAL & NTSC sized images?
Vegas doesn’t really care what size they are as it adjusts for them (almost) automatically. I’ve imported thousands of pictures into hundreds of projects over the years and never had any issues whatsoever. -
Brian, one more thought. Is it possible that the original images have some black on the sides that you haven’t noticed? What happens when you bring one into an app like Photoshop? Are the edges clean? Can you put one up on the net somewhere to take a look at?

Not that I’m aware of.
This is very strange behaviour that I’ve personally never experienced and don’t recall reading about others having similar problems. Sorry I can’t be of more help 🙁Mike

It’s “match aspect ratio” that you should be using. This is found in the pan/crop window. To save you having to do each one individually, look for a script called MaintainAspect.js
I know it’s on Edward Troxel’s site. Probably a few others as well. -
Yes, chapter markers is what I meant although apparently markers of any type caused the problem for some folks.
Yo could try upping the thread count even more to see if that helps.
If it doesn’t then I’m out of ideas and it’s time to send a copy of the exception report to Sony. It’ll take them a while (up to a week) to get back to you but they will.Mike

Are you using the latest build of Vegas (6.0d)?
This crashing was an issue for a few folks if the imported vegs had markers in them but it was supposedly fixed in 6.0d (or was it 6.0c?).
Another solution (I arrived at this after several emails to Sony tech support) is to increase the number of render threads. I originally had it set to one and a change to 2 or more fixed it. Don’t ask me why as I have no idea. It just worked and that’s all I cared about 🙂Mike

Sorry for the delay Edward but I had some students come in.
I’ve been through your tutorial and, unless I’m completely missing something, it’s not what I’m after.
If you look at these screenshots, the tooth is my problem.
As I navigate through the 4 options, I want the tooth to act as the “highlight” object.
Is this even possible with the current version of DVDA?

What’s the make/model of your camcorder and sound card?

Turn off “Quantize to Frames” (this is what’s holding it to frame slips) and you’ll be able to slip it much finer. I’m sure you know it but the more you zoom in to the timeline, the more accurate your ‘slip’ will be.
