If your program is under 70 min. long, I use a CBR of 8,000,000 for video.
Anything longer and I use Mark’s bitrate calculator to determine optimum settings and render it using the 2 pass option for maximum quality.
I use Best mode for video and the default AC-3 audio settings for both options.

Try VLC or MediaPlayerClassic Home Cinema. They’re much better and will play almost anything you throw at them.

You’re welcome Ric and sorry to hear that you weren’t aware of this.
If it’s any consolation the same thing happened to me a number of years ago. Lots of markers and notes on a project. Lesson learned the hard way for me too 🙁

You saved your project file but did you save your Trimmer info?
You need to click the Save icon in the Trimmer window to do this.

If yo don’t have a lot of slides to scan, my recommendation is to find a professional photo place that has a real slide scanner. They typically scan at around 2400 dpi or higher and have various correction tools (dust removal, exposure correction, etc.) built into them. I just looked online and found places doing it as cheap as 25 cents per slide (3500 x 2900 jpeg image).

1600 dpi is crazy!! How large are the pictures you’re scanning?

Jonathon, something is wrong with your scanning setup somewhere. I regularly scan my images at 150 to 300 dpi and the result is images around 1 MB. in size and up, not 25 kb.
If that’s all they really are, that would explain why they look so bad.

What version of Vegas are you using? How large are your stills? What is your Preview window set to?
