I use Vegas Pro and have the same problem with both Sound Forge and iZotope RX. I haven’t been able to find a reason for this so my solution is to render a WAV file using the desired template, open that in my audio editor, work on it and save it with a new name and bring that back into Vegas and replace the original audio. A bit of a PITA but it does work.

[Michael McIntosh] How do I find out?”

Launch Movie Studio and go Help – About. That will give you the version number of your current install.

” I think the Sony Movie Studio has had an update since I bought it.

Go to https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates and look for the appropriate download. There are 3 different versions of Movie Studio 13 so make sure you choose the right one.

” And if I update, does it meaning reinstalling?”

Nope. Install it and it updates the existing version. Nothing else required on your part.

External hard drives are so cheap these days that I don’t worry about buying another one or four 🙂
A lot of folks in your position build in the cost of the drive to the customer’s bill so that they pay for the drive.
Remember to check the drive at least once every 6 months to ensure proper operation as drives can and do go bad.
Having another backup (off site in case of fire, theft, etc.) is always a good idea too.

Here’s is a relevant thread from the Sony Vegas forum.
Can’t Import XAVC from PXW-X70 into Sony Vegas
If the camera footage isn’t be recognized by Vegas, do what some users are doing and run the footage through Sony’s Catalyst Browse (it’s free) and export it to your desired format.
One user in the thread referenced above exported it to XAVC Intra 100Mbps which is fine with VP13&12.

Turn off Split Screen View. It’s the icon on the Preview window to the left of the words Best/Full.

+1 to Roger’s technique. I did the same thing a short time ago and it worked great!!

  • Drop them on a timelime and look at the waveform monitor. The second and third images hardly have anything to work with. The way I see it your choices are to re-shoot with more light or put up with the noise. Sorry 🙁

I think a playlist will do what you want but I’ve never done one so don’t hold to me to that thought 🙂

  • Once you choose your template (e.g. DVD Architect NTSC video stream), click the Custom button. This screen comes up and that’s where you make your changes.
