XAVC now supported??
I’ve got a client who wants to shoot using Sony’s XAVC codec and this will be the first time I’ve used it. Been hearing stories of edit issues concerning XAVC not easily importing in Sony Vegas Pro.
Anyone know if this has been resolved by newer Vegas Pro versions?
I just read a page off Sony’s site saying the new Vegas Pro NLE software will support XAVC.“Vegas Pro natively supports XAVC and XAVC S files as well as RED ONE® and RED EPIC® files”

Can anyone attest that it’s working or do you have to convert the XAVC before you can edit in Vegas?

The problem report(s) going around are with regards to importing XAVC-L Long Gop from specific camera(s). The one I have seen talked about is the Sony PXW-X70.

I have a Sony A7s and record to XAVC S.
Works beautifully in Vegas Pro 13 with no problems at all.
I have also been using Sony’s Catalyst Browse to import and preview XAVC S video from SDXC card before importing into Vegas Pro. -

Can’t Import XAVC from PXW-X70 into Sony Vegas
If the camera footage isn’t be recognized by Vegas, do what some users are doing and run the footage through Sony’s Catalyst Browse (it’s free) and export it to your desired format.
One user in the thread referenced above exported it to XAVC Intra 100Mbps which is fine with VP13&12. -
Good to know. I was wondering though that your camera is in an MP4 wrapper instead of MXF (which the PXW-X70 uses) makes a difference?
Just curious.
