What version of Vegas are you using? How large are your stills? What is your Preview window set to?

    Hi Mike, thanks for responding.
I am using VP 9. I scanned slides at 350 DPI, resulting in 25 kb jpegs on average. I have tried various settings in the preview window with no success.
    Thankyou

Jonathon, something is wrong with your scanning setup somewhere. I regularly scan my images at 150 to 300 dpi and the result is images around 1 MB. in size and up, not 25 kb.
If that’s all they really are, that would explain why they look so bad.

Open the scanned slide in a different software and you’ll see they are too small.

Assuming you’re going to crop them to 1920 x 1080, your scanned image should be at least 1920 pixels x 1080 pixels or about 2 mega pixels. The file size will depend on jpg compression, but I would guess at least 1 mb.

1600 dpi is crazy!! How large are the pictures you’re scanning?

He said they are slides. I’m guessing 35mm
I’d scan one and check the resolution in pixels to find the right setting

    Thankyou for all your responses.
    scanned 35mm slides:
    1200dpi-1044pix x 1528 pix
    1600dpi – 1392pix x 2037 pix.

Even these large files, when placed on the timeline, appear out of focus.

    Any ideas?

    Thankyou all…
    35mm slides scanned at:
    1200 dpi = 204kb 1044pix x 1528pix
    1600dpi = 1392pix x 2037pix

Eventhese files, when placed on the timeline, appear out of focus.
    Any ideas?
