I for one don’t mind at all if apple drops log and capture. If they do i’m 100% sure that 3rd parties will pick up the slack. I’m sure AJA or Blackmagic will create far better untilities then there current ones.

One of the major complaints we had with log and capture is once you start captureing, boom FCP is locked up, you couldn’t do anything else. which in why about 2 years ago we invested in a telestream pipline for our SD Tape ingest. This system lets you start ingesting a tape and almost immeditly (like 10 second lag) you can start editing that clip in FCP and as more is captured more shows up in the file. Its super slick.

So if Apple does drop capture i’m sure other compaines will start to add features like this.

One of my big questions is going to be how does this affect our annul agreement. We maintain on this campus around 90 Final cut licenses we also pay a yearly fee to maintain these licenses which entitled us to all upgrades. So I’m wondering if we are going to be able to migrate that agreement to be able to get it from the app store or are we going to have to get individual iTunes accounts for each Mac we have.

I don’t plan on getting a cubix but your saying that i’ll get more horse power out of the 4000, and would i be better off getting two? Also would you suggest not useing the ATI Radeon for the GUI graphics card?

    Thanks

I have been reading about the Nvidia Quadro 4800 for Mac and all of the features it has when intagraded with adobe CS5. I know FCP 7 doesn’t support 64 bit and Cuda, but with the rumbling of a New FCP this spring would this be a wise card or does the ATI have the same features?

While i haven’t used the HD Tricaster we do have a SD 3 camera version. Its not a bad unit, our intermural competitive sports still use it to switch and stream their different events. It is very user friendly and has a very low learning curve, which is a plus for us. Since we have lots of new students every semester.
