I’m purchasing a new 8 core mac pro with 6 gb of ram. I am wanting to know if the ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB will give me the horse power i need for high end motion graphics. or is other card i should be looking at getting. Any help would be great.

    Thanks.

That is currently the best card for Motion. Whether it’s adequate for your needs I can’t say. I would get more RAM as well.

I have been reading about the Nvidia Quadro 4800 for Mac and all of the features it has when intagraded with adobe CS5. I know FCP 7 doesn’t support 64 bit and Cuda, but with the rumbling of a New FCP this spring would this be a wise card or does the ATI have the same features?

Nobody can say about what will happen regarding Apple products. Right now the ATI 5870 is the best card for Motion.
