Thanks John. The card came with the computer and really had no problems until I put BCC7 to it. I probably should have read into the system requirements a little deeper than taking Boris’s line as good to go:

Almost any graphics card released during the past three years will provide the features necessary to run OpenGL-accelerated Boris Continuum Complete filters

I imagine I’ll be applying the upgrade here at some point in the near future. I only hope that it remedies the situation. I have been saying “what next” way too much lately.

You are right John. I did get the latest upgrades. My card is a Nvidia GeForce 9300GE. It was working OK, but still has some issues. It seems whenever I use BCC7 I run into problems. The 3D stuff by itself or if I add more than a couple of the other FX to one event. I didn’t even get to a 1/3 of the FX yet. I have a feeling I’ll be getting some more surprises along the way.

I put a few bucks I really don’t have into this thing and so far it looks like I have to put in a lot more to get it right. I really hoped that adding more memory and the Windows 64 bit would cure the ills. Maybe an upgrade of the video card is the answer. I don’t know. What would be a good card? Maybe one with dual monitor support. Might as well go get a loan or sell the farm to get it right.

If BOAT mean break out another thousand what would Video Editing mean?

Thanks Scott, it seems I really do need to go back to square one and dedicate the whole computer to editing. I have to see if I can put eSata ports in or get another internal drive to take advantage of the Raid utility. I am using USB 2.0 external drives which will become back up only.

Scott, I did that in the past, but failed to realize that I didn’t think of the viewing my hidden files option when I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have the .veg files moved to an external drive where i will save to from here on out. Thanks for your help.

I guess my question is why does Vegas install and have the default save to a file i cannot acces. The only place i see the location is in the save as box when saving. I never changed the save box as I did in earlier versions. I am fortunate that I can move the files to an external drive until i can figure out how to set up my RAID.

I crashed so much that most of the learning stuff didn’t get renamed. I need to open them all to see just what I have. I am still at wits end with BCC7

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the help I have gathered here on the COW. I try to gain as much as I can from every question and reply. The learning curve can be very steep at times. When things happen you can’t explain it makes that curve all the harder to climb. I’m thinking maybe I sharpened the curve before I had control of the straightaway with Boris FX and its demands. I certainly hope it doesn’t get in the way of my continued attempt to get good at this stuff. Thanks for being there for both the technical and moral support.

I didn’t intend for the thread to become a debate about what works and what doesn’t. I was just looking for some light on what the problem was or what might of caused the disappearing program. I never experienced that before with anything installed on my computers past and present.

To open the Vegas program which has been reliable for the most part and find your expensive software missing is like opening the garage and the car is gone.

Steve, I have a tendency to agree. As much as I can appreciate the spectacular results of the software I am a bit sorry I spent the money. I have struggled to the point of getting it to run 1/2 decent with what I have. That includes the cost of upgrading memory and finally putting Windows 7 on my machine…Nowhere near a cure.

Now this mystery appears and I have no explanation for it at all. I only lost the veg file to a small project that was more for learning this stuff than anything. What happens when I am doing something serious when this is my livlihood? Having to go through this hassle don’t cut it. I have other issues with Boris FX, but that is for another thread.

When trying to uninstall BCC7 I got a 1613 error which is a registry thing. I went to a restore point and the FX were still missing and I still couldn’t uninstall them. I went back and restored at an even earlier point and then it allowed me to uninstall the program.

I reinstalled both Vega10c and BCC and got the FX just as they were before I had a problem. What is puzzling is why after system restore to before my project yesterday they were still missing……More puzzling is what happened in the first place
