BCC7 plug ins are GONE!
Posted by Mike Hinkel on March 13, 2011 at 3:57 pmUpon opening Vegas just now I got a message telling me my BCC plug ins used for a recent project are not installed on my machine. I went and looked into my plug in manager and nothing is there. I went to my c drive and the BCC also shows empty… I am in the process of uninstalling and reinstalling to see what the heck happened.

March 13, 2011 at 5:31 pmWhen trying to uninstall BCC7 I got a 1613 error which is a registry thing. I went to a restore point and the FX were still missing and I still couldn’t uninstall them. I went back and restored at an even earlier point and then it allowed me to uninstall the program.
I reinstalled both Vega10c and BCC and got the FX just as they were before I had a problem. What is puzzling is why after system restore to before my project yesterday they were still missing……More puzzling is what happened in the first place…

unexplainable Mike….lol
But what you experienced seems to be a fault of BCC 7.I have never had a good and comfortable experience
using Boris line of products. I like using and sticking
to tools that are rock solid.Steve Rhoden

March 14, 2011 at 2:51 amSteve, I have a tendency to agree. As much as I can appreciate the spectacular results of the software I am a bit sorry I spent the money. I have struggled to the point of getting it to run 1/2 decent with what I have. That includes the cost of upgrading memory and finally putting Windows 7 on my machine…Nowhere near a cure.
Now this mystery appears and I have no explanation for it at all. I only lost the veg file to a small project that was more for learning this stuff than anything. What happens when I am doing something serious when this is my livlihood? Having to go through this hassle don’t cut it. I have other issues with Boris FX, but that is for another thread.
Thease are just a small portion of the crash save as files

March 14, 2011 at 10:50 am(hmmmmm)…The development team over at Borix Effects needs
to seriously iron out the bugs and instability of their tools
a lot more…..They have great products, but instability and the
lack of a free flowing integration is its only flaw.Steve Rhoden

I’m not sure how you know what is causing the instability but the Vegas Pro 10 OFX interface is brand new and some of the instability is because the Vegas team is still ironing things out on their end. I don’t see how anyone can place blame when both products are brand new.

Actually, “free flowing integration” is exactly what BCC7 has. I’m not sure how much more integrated you expect it to be. If you are referring to Boris FX/RED/Graffiti integration, that has been a problem with Vegas that Sony just fixed with the OFX API so expect better integrated versions from Boris very soon.

March 14, 2011 at 1:22 pmYes, i know that the OFX interface is new and all that, but
Boris has always been touchy at best from as far back as i can
remember John….and the blame do belonged to Boris, not
necessarily Vegas. And yes, when i mentioned “integration flaws” i was referring to
exactly Boris FX/Red and Graffiti.Steve Rhoden

March 14, 2011 at 1:30 pmI didn’t intend for the thread to become a debate about what works and what doesn’t. I was just looking for some light on what the problem was or what might of caused the disappearing program. I never experienced that before with anything installed on my computers past and present.
To open the Vegas program which has been reliable for the most part and find your expensive software missing is like opening the garage and the car is gone.

March 14, 2011 at 5:15 pmYea, Steve and I are just sharing two points of view. Boris has gotten somewhat of a bad rap because the old Vegas API only allowed plug-ins to see one frame of video. It’s a little hard to do motion tracking on only one frame of video and people blamed Boris for this. The new Vegas OFX API and BCC7 changes all that, and I didn’t want people reading the forum to think that this was still the case. BCC7 is totally integrated into Vegas even better than the existing Vegas plug-ins which don’t take advantage of the new animation capabilities that Boris now does.
You seemed to have had a lot of problems with your computer lately. I can’t imagine what’s causing it but I hope you get it all working again, and then back it up. 😉

March 14, 2011 at 11:51 pmThanks guys. I appreciate all the help I have gathered here on the COW. I try to gain as much as I can from every question and reply. The learning curve can be very steep at times. When things happen you can’t explain it makes that curve all the harder to climb. I’m thinking maybe I sharpened the curve before I had control of the straightaway with Boris FX and its demands. I certainly hope it doesn’t get in the way of my continued attempt to get good at this stuff. Thanks for being there for both the technical and moral support.
