I import AVCHD file from my Z150 directly into FCPX and tell it to create optimized media. You might need to update to newer FCPX if your version is too old.

February 14, 2017 at 2:42 am in reply to: FS7 shooting ProRes workflow. Thoughts?

I shoot with a Z150 and FCPX handles XAVC directly. It will transcode to ProRes on output. It may be doing something in the background while I’m editing, but I’ve never had to wait for anything.

Might wanna try. Pretty cheap. Works well for me.

    Good luck.

I know FCPX reads MXF directly. Maybe it can repair.

    Good luck!

Did you try importing into FCPX?

  • Hey… If I’m understanding the issue correctly, In/Out + FORWARD DELETE (or SHIFT DELETE) will leave the gap.

    Hope this solves it…

January 23, 2017 at 3:05 pm in reply to: P2 Card Readers and FXP X

    Hey all…

Not sure if this helps, but I used the Duel Adapter years ago until it no longer worker with the version of OSX I’d upgraded to. After that, I found an old MacBook Pro for literally $100 (probably less now) that had the PCMCIA slot in the side, but was maxed out at OSX 10.4. Used that as a dedicated P2 reader. Great DIT workstation – bulletproof for this purpose (and a fraction of the cost of just a P2 reader). P2 cards slide right in with no flaky adapter issues, has Firewire, is fast enough (64G card in about 7-8 mintues), and frees up my other Macs to do other work.

November 7, 2016 at 2:13 pm in reply to: How to Author a Blu-Ray

The few times I’ve found myself burning a disc in FCPX, I remember the only real issue I’d come across was when I’d add a custom background to the main menu. Either FCPX thought I wanted one that was not actually available or the file was too big or any number of other subtle reasons. The biggest problem (other than crashing) was that FCPX would give no indication why it did. Something to double check before the next attempt?

    Good luck…

P.S. – don’t forget to take a break tomorrow and vote! (if you haven’t already)

They still work with Logic. I’d have thought the ability to “align” the audio into a hardware mixer was the big hurdle.

    Hey all..

Can’t speak to all the specific wattages, etc., but I’m running an AMD R9 280X 3GB in a 2012 12 core without issue.

Quiet and fast. Can’t ask for much more.

    Good luck!

February 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm in reply to: FCPX 10.2.3 freezes when I make text edits

When odd things like that have happened to me, I tried copying the entire contents of the timeline and pasting into a new one. This has helped a few times, indicating something went awry in the database part of a project.

    Good luck!
