Isolate each channel by turning off the other channels on the timeline, and export 8 times to WAV. Assuming this is for building a DVD, you would import the different tracks individually.

In NYC you should be able to find someone – I would imagine there are suitable people who work for any of the many tv networks in NY who probably could use the per diem work. Call around to other post houses and see who they use.

Depends upon how your business operates.
We charge by the project. Sometimes if asked for an hourly rate we will suggest a flat fee. Usually we are asked for a price without any qualifier.
Know the scope before setting a price. And your rate is for the talent more than the gear.

Funny.
This clip is typical of a national network news story (NBC Nightly News for example – if introduced by Brian Williams with his plastic spray on hair it is even more believable!).
But local news in my market only dreams of being this good. They love interviewing 2 people on the street and calling it news – they usually don’t even super the people so they could be station interns for all we know.

Was this ever a huge industry? Probably, but you just don’t hear about it very often unless you are buying a new home.It is an odd mix of dying industries – likely compiled by a pseudo reporter with nothing more than a web browser. This actually looks like the type of fluff story you see on Cra#ked.com or USA today or your local network affiliate’s 5pm news.
In other words, this article is not news, but fluff designed to raise eyebrows without requiring much in the way of journalism.

I got my first editing job thanks to what I learned while pursuing my bachelors degree so my response is perhaps biased.
In the early 90’s you could not learn video production without access to someone’s facility unless you had rich parents. I suppose my parenrs could havee spent 60 grand and bought me a BetaSP camera but I learned a lot in college having nothing to do with my field but everything to do with being prepared for working and living

We now do more than that, but the name is here to stay, as is the logo
There does happen to be a Mediterranean Film festival by the same name, purely a coincidence! What else would they name it? Medi-Cine sounds too clinical.
When I am looking for a production company to hire in a remote location, the name doesn’t matter. The experience, the gear and the talent are what’s important. Last week I had a heating contractor at my house. His company is called A1 Service. About as generic as you can get, but it was a direct referral from the manufacturer’s website. If the name was Toasty Toes or Heatwave Inc. I might actually have been weary.
Tell me what you do, how you do it, how much it costs and who I make out the check to.

I agree with Shane. I was once asked if I would be interested to shoot a reality show pilot. I answered with a whole host of questions, indicating that the producer had not given the idea much thought, assuming you could just follow someone around with a camera and have your show.
Most reality shows follow the same formula, but any formula is pretty well thought-out and detailed in its execution.
