Thanks for the response Bruce. Unfortunately this project didn’t have a budget or proposal. It was a spur of the moment thing. I’m also dealing with a new project person who is completely overwhelmed with a new position. Next time I will put the breaks on and get an approved proposal before starting. Lesson learned. I have now found out that the project person didn’t have approval for my services from the higher ups which may or may not contribute to this dilemna. At any rate, thanks for your input.

August 16, 2008 at 1:25 pm in reply to: NLE system needed, Promax?

I read this thread with interest as buying a system from Promax was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I have a rock solid system designed to my exacting specs and completely tested before shipped. But I don’t think that is the issue. I don’t think anyone would argue Promax WAS a great company. The question is should we trust the new company. What do we know about the new owner. I know my sales guy is back on board which tells me the new operation is PROBABLY just like the old Promax. Bottom line is we won’t know until we see how they conduct business over the next few months. If it were me, I would definitely give them a shot with a new system seeing as many of the old employees have come back. These guys know their stuff and were a great help to me when I migrated from PC to Mac.

Thanks a boatload guys. I’m trying not to have to go to a third party piece of software to get “the best look in the world”(SNL short film reference). I’m away from the studio for a few days but will try all of the above and let you know what happened. I can’t thank you enough.

    THE COW ROCKS!!!

[Mark Suszko] “the music was nothing special at all; you can make that stuff up yourself for free with Sonicfire or Garageband, Soundtrack, Acid Pro or any of the music looping tools”

I was about to come in amongst you on that one Mark but then I watched the piece. The soundtrack sounded like my 10 year old nephew did it in Garage Band. Now I’m all about simplicity but that just plain stunk.

Top shelf response Ron. I busted a %$& laughing so hard. Every now and then I have to respond to a “what’s the best” post. I just can’t resist.

Canon HJ18ex28B-ITS e-HDxs 18x 2/3″ High Definition Telephoto Remote Motor Drive Lens with 2x Extender

With a 2/3 to 1/2 converter, this will definitely be the best lens you can buy for the EX-3

July 11, 2008 at 6:49 pm in reply to: Good books for marketing your video business?

Excellent post Tim. It is how I market my business for the most part. We are targeting a niche market with a solution oriented product. One thing I would like to add if I may. Do the kind of work you enjoy!! It’s no secret I can’t stand doing weddings even though I’ve been told I’m very good at them. Therefore, I DON’T DO WEDDINGS!! If you are doing the kind of projects you enjoy it will show. Prospective clients will want that enthusiasm and passion on their projects.
