Thanks for the help.
Is the trial watermarked when used?
At this point the project is a one-off for a local theater company and the purchase of the Idustrial products is not yet on the horizon (a bigger computer is the first priority).

Thanks for all your help.
I appear to have a full weekend ahead of me.
Manuals have a function beyond being coasters after all, it seems.
Best to you all.

I’m not sure what you mean by “process you employ to transcode the AVCHD files the Canon produces into something FCP can edit”.
I’m guessing I probably missed a step somewhere in my learning curve.
This is the first time I’ve employed the two cameras for one shoot.
I hook the wire from the camera to the laptop, Log & Transfer the footage, and wait for it to download. If it’s in the manual, let me know and I’ll go digging.
Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I’m eventually going to go with the “same camera” idea.
Sell the 10 and get a 20.
In the interim, the footage I shot is of my Granddaughters dance recital, so I’d like to try to multicam edit, if for no other reason than learning… and the fact she’s my jewel. Both cameras are set to 24fps, Cine Mode, and both are AVCHD.
I’ll play with Compressor and see what happens.
(sound of dusty manual opening, coffee brewing, and a childish sigh of resignation)

“Manual? I don’t need no stinking manual. Them guys is full of it.”
(opens manual, begins to read)
“Hey, there’s…stuff in here…(reads more)…and more stuff….AND EVEN STUFF THAT TELLS ME HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM I HAVE!!…I’ll be damned, these manual thingees might just work afterall..”
Sorry for the noob attitude.
Lesson learned.

Eric: thanks so much for the info.
You’re saying I can use all three clips (HG10, HG20, and Flip [after using Media Slipstream to convert it for use in FCP]) and sync them up using Pluraleyes? -
Shane: thanks so much for the rapid response.
I used a Flip camera (HD) for some B-roll stuff. Is there a “magic bullet” that make it usable with the other segments, or will I just need to do the usual “frame-by-frame” match up?
Thanks again for all your help.

Any good tutes of which you are aware for creating image masks?
I like the Ink Bleed idea.
I used Painter in another life and they had an ink pen that, when applied to a certain texture, would spread out a little before ‘drying’.That’s what I’m going for, but with all the letters appearing simultaneously.
Thanks to you and all y’all for being here for us newbs with big ideas and limited talent.

Noah:
Sorry for any confusion.
As I said, I quickly wrote the message waiting backstage at a play so I wouldn’t forget (my brain sometimes does not remain engaged).I’m looking for an effect that shows text (a tattoo) appearing on a texture (flesh) as though it’s ‘bleeding’ through from beneath the surface.
I’m playing with the 3D camera, Motion Path and various fades, but am wondering if there is a simpler way.
If not, I’ll just keep playing around. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

Rafael:
I think I figured it out.
I open my main project.
I then open the individual clip by double-clicking on it in its folder.
It shows up in my Browser Window in my main project as a separate tab.
I move it to the Canvas Window, do any fine tuning, then insert into the time line.
Voila! The clip is there.
If there are any better ways to accomplish this, please let me know.
But meantime, thanks for your guidance.
