Making text appear to bleed into graphic
I would like to make my text seem to appear to ‘bleed’ through onto a picture of parchment paper, similar, I guess, to invisible ink seeming to come out of the paper it’s written on. I’m thinking this would mean using 3D space, but I haven’t spent enough time with it yet.
I’m trying for a ‘tattoo coming through flesh’ effect.Hope I’m making sense.
I’m writing this as I stand in a dimly lit hallway waiting for my cue to go on for the play I need the graphic for: Dead Man Walking.

Kinda impossible to give you advice- as it sounds like you’re looking for a very specific sort of look. 3D is limited in Motion so it really depends on your expectations whether this is possible in Motion or would require a true 3D app. Perhaps you could supply an example of what it is you mean or an attempt and we could help you with that.

Sorry for any confusion.
As I said, I quickly wrote the message waiting backstage at a play so I wouldn’t forget (my brain sometimes does not remain engaged).I’m looking for an effect that shows text (a tattoo) appearing on a texture (flesh) as though it’s ‘bleeding’ through from beneath the surface.
I’m playing with the 3D camera, Motion Path and various fades, but am wondering if there is a simpler way.
If not, I’ll just keep playing around.Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

You might consider one of the Ink Bleed paint stroke styles used as an image mask to reveal the text…

Any good tutes of which you are aware for creating image masks?
I like the Ink Bleed idea.
I used Painter in another life and they had an ink pen that, when applied to a certain texture, would spread out a little before ‘drying’.That’s what I’m going for, but with all the letters appearing simultaneously.
