This video must have been done in a very big hurry. There is no creativity here; as Filip says, lots of clichés. However, sports videos don’t seem to care that everybody and their mother uses these effects; it’s almost like it’s part of sports.

Stuart also makes a good point. You will need to read the manual. After Effects is a very powerful program, but that means there is a lot to learn. You can use AE for many years and still learn new things almost daily with it.

Could you show an example video of the flicking?
Render out a part where it is the worst.
Then on the COW above the box where you type a response are a series of buttons, one button from the right is the video upload button. That way we can see exactly what you are talking about.

I’m going to walk this through step-by-step the way I did it.
    Make a layer.
Mask the layer into a shape.
    Precompose, moving all attributes.
    Call the precomp “Shape”
In the main comp make the Precomp “Shape” a 3d layer
Create a new layer and name it “Particles”.
    On “Particles” apply Effect>Trapcode>Particular
In the Particular effects setting set the Emitter type to layer
    In layer choose “Shape”
    That should work.

Here’s a project with which I was toying. I didn’t name everything, but if you’re pretty savvy in AE and I know Trapcode Particular reasonably well, it shouldn’t be a problem to figure it out. In the precomp you can change the mask shape on the layer and you’ll see the particles change in response.

I was thinking that the T was just one color and you could just recreate it in After Effects by a mask and then just animate that mask. But if it’s a logo and not just a shape, this may help you.

A search on this website for image, animation, flicker turned up a few results that may help.

Do you mean CS4? If so, that’s the newest version. If you actually mean you’re buying version 4…I hope you’re paying less than $10 for it. Unless this is some exercise in playing with antiques…

Like I did mention in my post, there is the Bezier Warp. There is also Reshape. Or you could just trace the T on a solid with a mask and then animate the mask.

Right above where you type in things to post on the forum are a few buttons. One is a file upload and one is an image upload.
