You can use the alt-key or you can use the spring-loaded 1, 2, 3 keys. That is, if you hold one of those keys down, you get pan/tilt, zoom, and orbit.

These features make it SO much better to work in 3d space. For example, you can now orbit around your mouse click instead of the (usually unhelpful) camera point of interest.

How long is the sequence you’re trying to Dynamic Link?

What, exact, version numbers of AE and Premiere Pro are you using?

Is there a reason you need to use Dynamic Link instead of using AE’s Import Premiere Pro Project command or rendering production codec of the sequence to import?

I’ve not seen that happening before (or heard of it). What is the source of these JPG files? What OS are you using? What (exact) version number of AE are you on?

Highly recommend reading through all of the resources on the Puget Systems website. They do real-world testing of different CPUs, GPUs, RAM, etc. with AE and find out what actually works the best with AE.

That way, it’s not theory; it’s real.

What are you wanting this thing to do? If you have things parented correctly and anchor points in the right spot, you might only need to use expressions to counteract rotation so the letters stay oriented the way you want them to be.

If they’re the same size on a grid, I was going to suggest either doing the Fractal Noise and Mosaic thing that Brendon suggested or using Card Wipe to do it.

Or, if you have Form from Red Giant’s Trapcode Suite, you can get even crazier.

  • They’re not exactly identical. The solids are different colors and the composition lengths are very different.

That said, those differences shouldn’t be causing the error you describe. I opened both projects on my Windows machine with NVIDIA’s GT730 GPUs in it and neither one had an issue.

I’d suggest filing a bug report.

(I’ve never seen someone layer glows in 8-bit before. Usually they behave much more beautifully in 32-bit, by the way.)

  • That sounds odd. It’s possible that some of the values are different on the layers. For example, Glow could really expand the size of a layer. Are they both 32-bit?

Are these dots all the same size on a grid or are they various sizes and randomly scattered?

Can you convert them to layers so that they’re on individual layers in After Effects?

You could just track the screen and use that data to stabilize it. You can use data from Mocha AE or AE’s own trackers. Depending on how it moves, you may need to get fancy. Mocha AE (the version of Mocha that’s included in AE) doesn’t include stabilization, but you can use the data to do stabilization anyway. More info here.
