Ahh that’s the type of info I was after: something from panasonic themselves! Thanks Helmut.
Also, I agree: maybe the price of P2 coming down would be better than getting a 128gb one (which would probably be the price of 1 arm and 1 leg!)

Yes, I don’t reuse tapes. I have a couple of hundred tapes archived. I’m currently shooting in SD on MiniDV and dreaming of going HD the panasonic way.
If looking at P2 eventually breaking even with the cost of tape, it’ll take a LONG time to break even: if I were to go full HD, I’d need at least 8 x 64gb P2 cards for a 2 camera wedding. That’s 8 x $900 = $7200.
    currently I buy 150 MiniDV tapes for $401 = $2.67 each.
At 8 tapes per wedding (maximum), that’s $21.39 in tapes per wedding.
You can see how many weddings I’d have to do before I’d break even (336!).
But that’s when comparing with tape, and granted, if I shot 720pN, I’d need less than 8 P2 cards for a wedding…plus I’m upgrading to HD!…I’m not just getting the same result, and trying to break even.
    Oh how I dream!

I’m shooting from start of ceremony (2 or 3pm) till 10pm at the reception with 2 cameras! So I’d probably use 3-4 hours on each camera per wedding.

That’s a good point about too many eggs.
I’m primarily a wedding videographer, and you can see the appeal of having 4 hours of 1080p recording time without changing cards.
Do you think that would be risky, are p2 cards known to fail? I was under the impression that they’re super realiable, maybe I’m wrong…

Happened to me: the error message “insufficient content for edit” when changing angles in a multiclip in the timeline.

Only way I was able to fix it was to cut and delete the rest of the multiclip from the timeline, then find that exact point in the original multiclip in the browser, set an in point, and drag into the timelime.

I think the problem occurs when you shift the sync of the two clips of the multiclip in the timeline. Which should be a normal function.
Probably the way around it is to make sure the two clips are perfectly in sync before dragging to the timeline.
If it needs to be re-synced, maybe re-sync in the browser and drag in again making a cut in the timeline that the viewer won’t even realise.

    Hi,
I’m running Final Cut Pro Version 5.0
How do I get it updated?

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for the reply.
How can I capture NTSC? I have a PAL camera with PAL tapes and I’m in Australia. So NTSC stuff is kinda hard to come by.
I haven’t had this problem before with final cut, which is why I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it. But the problem still remains 🙁
And I can’t think of anything I’ve done to the system to make it do this.

Could it be an issue with the tape? I thought maybe a quicktime codec has gone wrong, but if that was the case, wouldn’t it be out of sync when I do a capture now too? Cos it’s fine when I “capture now”.
    Any other suggestions?

    Hi Rafael,
    Thanks for your reply.
When I open the clip in Quicktime, the audio is still out of sync. Exactly the same as in FCP.
The Frame Offset setting you speak of is set to 4. I’m pretty sure that setting is only used when using an extermal video output, like an external monitor.
    FCP User Manual:

“By changing the frame offset value in Final Cut Pro, you can compensate for the delay between your computer display and external video and audio outputs.”

I could be wrong, but I don’t think this is the setting I’m after.
    Or is it?
