Multiclip question
Posted by Greg Ball on February 4, 2009 at 5:53 pmI’ve cut a 1 hour long two camera presentation using multiclip. Everything worked fine. I shut down FCP overnight and stared it up today. Now I can’t seem to see the multiclip videos move in the source window. If i hit all stop both angles appear, but if I hit play, I only see the full screen image. I have it set to OPEN in the viewer, but it’s not showing me boh clips. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

February 4, 2009 at 6:09 pmStupid suggestion: check your RT settings and see if “Multiclip playback” is enabled?

February 4, 2009 at 6:18 pmAlso, have you trashed your preferences? Multicam/clip does get wonky from time to time and tossing the preferences usually solves the issue.

February 4, 2009 at 6:38 pmI know this is basic stuff, but this always works for me double-click on the clip on the timeline to re-load it into the viewer, then re-select “Open” from the drop-down menu. This should reset everything.

February 4, 2009 at 6:41 pmit’s been a while since I’ve done one of these edits, but I’m pretty sure the play head sync needs to be set to gang.

February 4, 2009 at 6:57 pm“Gang” may work, but I’ve always used “Open”
In fact, I’m working on one right now. -

February 4, 2009 at 7:22 pmNo I’ve always used “open” as well I cut the whole show that way. RT playback is set to multiclip, I’ve tried double clicking a clip in the timeline to reset it as was suggested. Still no luck. When I hit the space bar I see both cameras in the viewer, but when I hit play, I only get the full frame of what’s on the timeline.
I even tried dragging this to a new sequence. That doesn’t work either, but when I just drop one of my multiclip clips onto that same sequence it works fine.

March 12, 2009 at 9:36 pmI know I’m a month behind on this post so I am sure that you either already figured out what you needed to or made do. However I think I figured out the issue. I noticed that some of my multiclips played back only one clip in the viewer once my render bar for that section was blue. Switching the angle, which I imagine causes the clip to become unrendered, changes the render bar back to green over the selected clip allowing all angles to be viewed while in open sync.
I also just tried trashing my render folder and got the same results. Don’t know why this ocurrs but hopefully this helps down the road for people.
