That is an expensive setup to get a so-so HD monitor at best.

There will never be Video in unless you are hooked up to a deck that is send video TO the AJA. From the program is the Frame Buffer and that needs to match the sequence settings. Most likely this is a External Video setting in FCP.

You need to list the sequence setting and the Ext Video Out settings. (using AJA easy setups correctly will help with this)

Then you need to make sure that the video out in the AJA control panel is set correctly.

You can use software like within Compressor or CinemaTools to confirm the timing to 23.976. There is a app by Red Giant, Grinder that can also do it. Doing it with the software does it the same as what the HVX is doing.

saw a 6GB Sata drive at best buy today, 2TB for $240.

Also I thought each SAS port can break out into 5 eSata cables. But I guess you would also need a new enclosure with a 6GB backplane (at least that is what I would think)

You also need to remove the .layout and the .lay files, They should NOT be on the final DVD.

My system doesn’t have PCI 2.0 so I don’t think I can move up. I do have the E4P and it has be great but RAID 0 is what I have to use. Just thinking for down the road.

If you convert the footage to “Apple ProRes422” why are you using an (HQ) sequence setting.

You can down-convert the footage in FCP by dropping it onto a SD timeline. Keep frame rate and compressor codec the same.

Or when you take the HD QT export into Compressor turn on Frame Control and set to best (will take a lot longer to encode) If your money is under 90 minutes change the Encoding mode to CBR and set it to 6.5 Mbps. (this will short the time to encode).

All in all you need to do short test and burn to a disc.

Building menus in DVDSP sucks, especially when you use the text for highlights, build them in Photoshop or Motion. There are a number of threads in the DVDSP forum on using the correct size for menus.

In Compressor you can convert the 24p to play at 25p, I would do it up front, that way no surprises during the edit.
