.mov is doesn’t mean a much, all it means is that it has a QT wrapper, the codec is what is important. Do you know what it is? Is not open QT player and show movie inspector and let me know.

what most people don’t realize is how much time needs to be invested in practicing. I use to produce a live concert DVDs and the last thing I wanted was a steadicam operator that didn’t have a lot of experience. The need was different than shooting for a doc or movie, since there are no retakes. I never went cheap on my steadicam guy. He was the first one booked and the highest paid. Next inline was the jib operator.

You need to tell us in more details what you are editing. FW800 can handle ProRes HD and DVCProHD just fine, with the FW800 you can get a couple of streams. If you are trying to do a lot of multicam where you are pulling a lot of streams at the same time you may want to change.
I like OWC a lot, buy all my RAM and HD from them. While you lose the apple warranty and it is covered by OWC, I fully trust them there is only one source for service work, just something to be aware of.
But I will say that an iMac with a eSata port is a different beast all together.

No you cannot add anything other that memory to a iMac, they are a closed system, no expansion. There is a company that installs eSata into on iMac but that is a major modification that cannot be done by yourself.A Raid FW enclosure gives you a like extra speed over a single FW drive.

My point is simply, you cannot say “this works for this camera” when it only works under certain camera settings. Just because you only shot it one way doesn’t mean that other don’t use 60i or 30p.

You buy a faster computer and/or faster drive system.It would be help if you have us info on your system, drives, footage, and sequences.

This is not odd, FCP normally gets an upgrade every 2 years and has been announced around NAB. The only talk is always just rumors that will probably start around Jan or Feb of 2011. In the past these rumors have really off.

Didn’t say don’t ask, we all know fields are merging, people do ask questions about stills but the Cow is not all things to all people. If I wanted answers about strobe flashes I personally would ask somewhere else. I would want a bigger answer pool to draw from, that is all I’m saying.
